Things People Always Ask
💰 How Much Does It Cost to Get Started?
I've teamed up with a host agency that's a great fit for both new and growing travel advisors. They provide solid training, personalized support, and a straightforward, budget-friendly pricing model.
🔹 Cost Breakdown
-
One-Time Setup Fee: $30
-
Monthly Hosting Fee: $30
(This covers access to booking tools, supplier portals, training, and support resources.) -
No Contract!
🔹 Commission Structure
-
80/20 Split
You keep 80% of the commission you earn.
The remaining 20% goes to the host agency to cover backend systems, accounting, tech tools, and support.
💡 Your earnings are never reduced beyond this—you keep your full 80%, and your clients never pay extra.
🙌 Why I Recommend This Host Agency
This host is a fantastic option if you're looking to launch your travel business with confidence and support—without breaking the bank.
With your membership, you'll receive:
-
✅ Access to top travel suppliers and booking platforms
-
✅ Comprehensive training and ongoing education
-
✅ A supportive, experienced travel agent community
-
✅ Professional tools to run and grow your business
🤝 What’s in It for (Me)Kelly?
This host agency rewards agents who help others succeed, so I earn a little extra for guiding you—something you can do too!
Here’s How It Works:
-
I receive $10/month while you remain active with the host agency.
-
I also receive 10% of the host agency’s 20% commission—not from your earnings. You still keep your full 80% commission.
This referral system is a great way to reward mentors who support new agents.
I’ve worked with other host agencies that simply take 20% and keep it all. This structure is different—it creates a supportive network where everyone wins and you can even earn passive income by helping others succeed.
🌱 Build a Business and a Team
As your business grows, you’ll have the option to refer new agents and earn residual income just like I do—creating a second stream of income while doing what you love. This is NOT required in any way!
✍️ How Do I Sign Up?
If you’re ready to get started or have more questions, just complete my Info Intake Form
Once I receive your details, I’ll personally reach out with the next steps to get you started on your journey as a travel agent!
Choosing Your Travel Agent Path
Independent, Hosted, or Franchise — What’s the Difference?
Not all travel agent business models are the same. Whether you're just starting out or planning to go full-time, understanding your options will help you choose the right setup for your goals.
✨ Hosted Travel Agent (most popular for beginners)
You operate under a host agency’s accreditation and access their booking systems, training, supplier relationships, and support.
✅ Ideal For: New agents or part-time agents looking for low startup costs and hands-on guidance.
✔️ Benefits:
-
Low upfront investment
-
70–90% commission (you keep the majority)
-
Built-in training & mentorship
-
Access to top suppliers without meeting volume minimums
-
Admin support and booking tools provided
⚠️ Things to Know:
-
Small monthly fee + commission split
-
You use the host’s credentials and systems
💼 Independent Travel Agent
You operate fully on your own — obtaining your own travel credentials (like CLIA or IATA) and building supplier relationships independently.
✅ Ideal For: Experienced agents with an established book of business or those who want full control.
✔️ Benefits:
-
You keep 100% of commissions
-
Full control over your systems and suppliers
-
Build your own brand from the ground up
⚠️ Things to Know:
-
Higher setup cost and responsibility
-
No built-in training or support
-
You must meet supplier volume requirements on your own
🏢 Franchise Travel Agent
You buy into a well-known travel brand (like Cruise Planners or Dream Vacations) and run your business using their systems, branding, and support.
✅ Ideal For: Full-time agents ready to invest in a turnkey business with corporate backing.
✔️ Benefits:
-
Recognized brand trust
-
Full tech stack, CRM, and marketing tools
-
Extensive training & support
-
Group buying power with top suppliers
⚠️ Things to Know:
-
Higher upfront franchise fee ($5K–$25K+)
-
Ongoing royalty and/or marketing fees
-
Less flexibility with branding and platforms
🎯 My Recommendation for New Agents
Most new agents (myself included!) start with a host agency. It offers the best of both worlds: low cost, hands-on training, and a path to success without going it alone.
If you join the host agency I recommend, I’ll personally mentor you through the process!
